This card could be great if you had a way to return your islands to your hand, or you made minimal drops before you let this sucker hit the board...donate is definetly going to love this card.

Sky SwallowerReport
I don't think that this will see much Standard use, but it could be interesting with the old combo of: Summoner's Egg + This + confusion in the ranks/ donate.

If you drop this dude with Form of the Dragon in play (it's not hard to cast at all in T2 right now) then unless they kill it their next turn or you allowed them to have a chump blocker, you win.

waaaaaaaaReport
donate.. "Target player gains control of target permanent you control."

step 1: cast Sky Swallower
step 2: float 3 excess mana
step 3: give all your permanents
step 4: cast donate and give Sky Swallower to your opponent
step 5: conceide

POOF!!! no permanents left for you.. toinkz!!!

I think this could be a post global destruction card, a la Wrath of God. There's definately things that can be done with this.

Obliterate with enough manaleft over to cast this maybe. Destroy literally everything and then play it. I've got a deck that'd probably run 2 copies and donate some darksteel ingots after obliterate and casting.

Obliterate + this = too much mana...Report
13 mana seems to much to me. However I did find some super tech to beat creatureless decks like Enduring Ideal, Battle of Wits, Eye of the Storm, etc. Here it is: Play Blood Funnel, then play this. They get all your lands and Blood Funnel. Blood Funnel says "Noncreature spells you play cost 2 less to play.
Whenever you play a noncreature spell, counter that spell unless you sacrifice a creature." If they have no creatures they can't cast any spells at all, and you swing for the win in 3 turns. Only works if they don't have creatures, but it might even work against Boros decks. Use gasp/ boomerang early, and cast Blood Funnel whenever you can, then Sky Swallower. It's a huge blocker, and they can't burn it to death nor burn you without sacrificing a creature (blood funnel) I think you can stabilize then just start attacking with your 8/8 Flyer. Even Boros would have trouble racing an 8/8 Flyer when they can't use burn. What do you guys think?

THIS+DONATE=NOT A COMBO!Report
When you Donate a creature, it doesn't come into play again. If you played this card with three mana floating and then donated it to the opponent, you'd have no permanents at all. What you really want to do is Upheaval or something with five mana floating, and there are better spells to play after an Upheaval. You could conceivably play this instead of Donate to give Illusions of Grandeur, but your opponent may well stay alive long enough to kill you, especially if he has all your stuff.

You're only partly right, that works with Auras but since your opponent now controls Blood Funnel, the drawback now applies to him, not to you.

The Blood funnel combo does work because when you donate the blood funnel to them, they become the you. You refers controller NOT owner.

If you could stifle the triggered ability, then it rocks, but other than that I don't like the idea of giving away everything I have just so my opponent can putrefy this.

Sorry Mike1, but you're wrong!Report
1)If Phage is already in play when you play Sky Swallower, how does its COMES INTO PLAY ability trigger again? Please indulge me.

2)If you have a Phage out, why haven't you
a)won yet
b)lost yet
c)stopped playing Magic? (Yes, here I am getting a little hypocritical, but Phage was only in there on the off chance a of turn two kill.)

3) If you have a Phage out and you play Sky Swallower, you deal 8 and unless they die from that, you lose as you have 0 blockers from playing Sky Swallower (if you somehow gave it haste that turn), or you block Phage with Sky Swallower because it'll kill you, and with 0 permanents in play you concede.
